Though he became an official resident just a few years ago, his connection to the area runs deep. His father and grandparents were born and lived in the Bathurst area for many years. These strong family connections brought Ty to the area many times growing up before finally making it his home.

Reconnecting with his Acadian roots has ignited Ty’s passion for justice and equality. The loss of his family's maternal language, a casualty of the FLQ’s actions in Quebec, drives his mission to unite and empower the people of Acadie—Bathurst.
